Miss the feel of CS:GO? The weapons you spent hours learning, the satisfaction of stopping a strafe and landing your shot, and the evenings spent playing on community servers?
Lambda Networks has brought the CS:GO experience to Garry's Mod. We've built custom Counter-Strike gamemodes that recreate the gameplay we love, giving returning players somewhere to enjoy it and Garry's Mod players something new to try.
If you're looking for how to play CS:GO in 2026, here's what you can expect on Lambda and how to get started.
CS:GO gameplay inside Garry's Mod
Our project brings Counter-Strike's gameplay systems into Garry's Mod through a custom, in-house codebase. It runs inside Garry's Mod, with Lambda's own servers and features.
The aim is to make the experience feel familiar from the moment you start moving and shooting. That means paying attention to the mechanics behind a firefight: how a weapon handles, how movement affects your accuracy, and how quickly you can reposition with different weapons equipped.
For returning CS:GO players, those details matter. Knowing when to stop and fire, when to control a spray, and when to move to a better position is part of what makes Counter-Strike satisfying.
Familiar weapons, movement and gunplay
Our Counter-Strike systems bring together:
- Weapon recoil and accuracy that reward controlled shooting and practice.
- Movement-based accuracy, making your movement part of every gunfight.
- Weapon-specific movement speeds, so your choice of equipment affects how you get around.
- Counter-Strike-style weapon handling and selection, built around a familiar arsenal.
Pick up an AK-47, take an angle with an M4, or practise your AWP shots. The appeal is being able to settle into the kind of gunplay you already enjoy while playing within the Garry's Mod community.
Start with Deathmatch, then explore
If you want to get a feel for the gameplay, our Deathmatch server is a good place to begin. Choose your weapons and get into the action, whether you're warming up, practising or playing a few casual games with friends.
You can read more about it in our Garry's Mod Deathmatch guide.
There's more to explore across Lambda, too. Our Counter-Strike offerings include Arms Race, Wingman and 1v1 Arena, while Training is available through LambdaNet. Check the Play page to find your next game.
A community you can keep coming back to
For many players, the appeal of Counter-Strike has always included the people on the server. Finding somewhere you enjoy playing, recognising names and bringing friends along can matter just as much as the result.
Lambda brings that community focus together with its own economy, missions and unlockable items that follow you between servers. You can also keep up with development, join discussions and explore the rest of the network through lambda.tf.
Because we develop our own gameplay systems, we're continuing to build on the experience. Our updates cover both the Counter-Strike foundation and the different gamemodes that use it.
